Buttons in a placed swf in the XML Flip Book/AS3

Postby squibn » Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:48 pm

Hi there,

Really impressed with the XML Flip Book/AS3 its looks amazing, and very easy to customise, one question though...

Is it possible to have buttons inside a placed swf file on a page that are actually clickable? It doesn't seem to fire when I've tried?

Any idea if this is possible?

It should be possible, the only think that wont work is a button in the corner of a page because it will be covered with corners "hot-spots" :)

P.S Thank you for the kind words.

Wow, quick response mpc, thanks!

So would a video player that I've done in a swf, that calls a separate flv work once placed inside the flip book? It doesn't seem to be playing ball when I tried (although it might be an error on my part, just wanted to know if it was even possible before I start digging around!)

Here's hoping;D

It should be no problem with embeded swf but It depends from your swf how this will work ;) Please check in normal fla file if it works then try to embed it into my flipbook ;)

Yep that's what I thought, works a charm when published by itself, but once placed within the flip book it stops working completely, the swf is placed but none of the buttons function, if this was to be resolved its truly would be perfect!! :D

Any help would be greatly appreciated!?

Yeh sure, Here's a link to the video placed inside the flip book...

http://www.essencreative.com/FlipBook/index.html

The swf vid is on page 7

and here it is working from a standard page...

Will you need my fla as well? Let me know if you do and I'll email it to you.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look :D.

I get this error when I run your flipbook, I think you are calling a stage object to soon...

Code: Select all
TypeError: Error #1009: Nie można uzyskać dostępu do właściwości lub metody dla odniesienia do obiektu null.

Hi mpc,

I'm not fully following what you mean? Both of the links I sent you work just fine? Its just the video swf ceases to function when placed within the flip book, even though I've changed nothing in my swf? At which point was that error being thrown?

Many thanks,
